Shown below are initial explorations of the Instant Messaging chat window in Wallop. Alternative 1 In this alternative, the user is having an IM conversation with Tyler. The user can view Tyler's status message at the top of the IM window, as well as view his Wallop profile, send him a message, and leave a comment on his profile. Also, when the user is typing a message, the IM window provides visual feedback of such in the form of ellipses.

Alternative 2 This alternative shows a similar IM window with some added enhancements. Presence information is displayed for the participants in the conversation via the colored ring around the user's profile picture. Also, multiple IM conversations are displayed in the same window and shown in individual tabs across the bottom of the window. Users can customize the font size of their messages, as well as include emoticons in their messages. Additionally, users can drag attachments into the composition window to send an attachment along with their IMs. Finally, options at the top of the window allow users to copy the conversation to paste in places like blogs and comments on Wallop.
