Comments Redesign	Back to Wallop

Shown below are explorations around how threaded comments can be displayed on objects in Wallop, using pictures as an example. The primary actions to be supported are viewing comments on the picture, adding comments to the picture, adding the picture to the user's Favorites, tagging a person in the picture, and deleting the picture (for users who own the picture). Alternative 1.1 Comments are displayed below the picture, and the user can add a new comment via a text box found directly below the picture. The ability to add to Favorites, tag a person, and delete the picture are shown as icons above the picture.

Alternative 1.2 Comments are displayed to the right of the picture, along with the ability to add a new comment. The ability to add to Favorites, tag a person, and delete the picture are shown as icons above the comments. A preview of the comments is shown, allowing the user to read the first part of the comments. The comments section must be expanded to show each comment in whole.

Alternative 1.3 In this alternative, the comments are displayed in a tab below the picture. The next tab allows users to comment on the picture. Lastly, three buttons allow users to add the picture to their Favorites, tag a person, and delete the picture.

Alternative 1.4 This alternative is more compact and showcases a toolbar of options for the picture. Each action is represented as a different button on the toolbar.

When the user clicks to view the comments for the picture, the comments section expands to reveal the comments on the picture as well as to allow the user to add a new comment. In this view, the picture is shown as a thumbnail.

Shown here are explorations around how attachments can be added to comments. Alternative 2.1 In this alternative, messaging is provided to indicate to users that they can drag objects into the comment box to attach them to their comment. Attached objects are shown as thumbnails below the comment text.

Alternative 2.2 Here, separate text boxes are used for the comment and the attachments to the comment. Attached objects are shown as thumbnails in the designated attachment box.
