Wallop

Wallop is an invitation-only social networking site built entirely in Flash, thus allowing it to support innovative designs and functionality. At Wallop, I worked as a user interface designer while also taking on the responsibilities of program manager.
Comments Redesign
This was a large project that entailed redesigning the comments UI throughout all of Wallop to achieve a simple and intuitive design. The set of wireframes presented here shows some alternate designs for displaying comments on objects, making comments, and replying to another person's comment. Some of the final designs can be seen in the Visual Designs section below.
Menus Redesign
This was another massive project that involved the redesign of the rollover menus throughout all of Wallop in an effort to simplify them and offer a more consistent design across all menus. Here is a set of wireframes showing different ideas for how to show these menus. Some of the final designs can be seen in the Visual Designs section below.
Media Modules
A user's Wallop profile contains modules that showcase the person's friends, pictures, music, blogs, and comments. The location of the modules and the content appearing in them are out of the user's control. Here are some wireframes that represent thinking around how to provide users more tools for self-expression by allowing them to further customize their Wallop profiles. Specifically, these wireframes illustrate ideas around how the profile can be designed to allow users to move, resize, and edit the contents of the media modules.
Instant Messaging
IM was a new feature request for Wallop. The wireframes here illustrate some of my initial ideas on the design of the IM chat window.
Amazon "Buy Me" Widget
In Wallop, users can purchase various widgets to place on their profile page. This project involved designing a simple profile widget allowing users to search for products on Amazon and showcase them on their profile.
Registration Page Redesign
The registration landing page is the page non-members see when they click to join Wallop via an invitation sent to them by current Wallop members. The goal here is to convey on the landing page that Wallop is a desirable, cool, and enticing social network. Here is a set of wireframes depicting alternate layouts and designs for this landing page.
Get Invited
The get invited feature was a new feature allowing non-members to request invitations to join Wallop from the Wallop profile pages of current members. Here is a series of wireframes depicting the general flow of dialogs for this feature.
Visual Designs
While at Wallop, I had the opportunity of working closely with a visual designer to fine tune the visual design for a number of projects for which I was the lead UI designer. The illustrations here are a sample of some of the work that this collaboration produced.
